Blood tests

Blood tests at Russells Hall Hospital have moved and opening times have changed. We are now in the Therapy Department, anticoag area. Please see below for new opening times.

Blood specimens are an extremely useful diagnostic tool and can be used to assess the general state of health, confirm the presence of bacterial or viral infections, and see how well organs such as the liver and kidneys are functioning. They are also useful for monitoring treatment.

Children under the age of 10 years cannot attend for a blood test after 5.30pm and not on Saturdays at all.

Blood tests can also be taken at selected GP surgeries and health centres in Dudley borough (click the link below for locations and times).

Appointments are necessary and you now have the flexibility to book yourself in for a test at a time convenient to you.

You will need to ask your GP for a blood test request form (also known as a phlebotomy request form) to take to the clinic of your choice on the day of your appointment.

Your GP will need to request home visits for blood tests to be carried out in the home.

If you have any questions about blood tests, please call (01384) 244086.
