Better Training Better Care

Promoting Practical Prescribing

Better Training better Care is a pilot project to establish inter-professional learning between newly qualified foundation doctors and pharmacists as part of the national ‘Better Training Better Care’ initiative.

We are keen to support other Trusts in setting up their own program – please feel free to use the resources and contact us with any queries or suggestions.

Safe, rational and cost-effective prescribing is of hugely important issue for us all. Newly qualified doctors are asked to make difficult decisions in a highly pressurised environment.

We have appointed an ‘Educational Pharmacist’ to run a course within the Foundation Doctor’s Protected Teaching program from August 2012.

The aim is to improve the confidence and competence of new doctors in prescribing and to help pharmacists appreciate the clinical context in which prescribing takes place.
