Dr Fisher trained at the Royal Free Hospital School of Medicine, part of the University of London. He trained in hepatology both there and at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, where he completed an MD (higher degree) in hepatology. He also trained in general gastroenterology and endoscopy at the University Hospital of North Staffordshire, and at Royal Wolverhampton Hospitals. He was appointed to The Dudley Group in 1999.
Dr Fisher has published numerous research articles in hepatology, gastroenterology and endoscopy. His current job profile includes ward work, routine and specialist endoscopy (ERCP and EUS) and outpatient clinics. Research interests include hepatology and advanced (interventional) endoscopy. He is currently service lead for gastroenterology and endoscopy at The Dudley Group, and is specialist training programme director (TPD) for gastroenterology training in the West Midlands deanery.
